Toyota launched today the new generation 2016 Fortuner in the country, with prices starting at ₹ 25.92 lakh ex-showroom for the base variant (petrol manual) & going up to ₹ 31.12 lakh for the top-end variant (diesel automatic) ex-showroom. The all-new SUV was first revealed last year in Thailand and was teased recently too. The new Toyota Fortuner’s teaser already created a lot of anticipation among its fans and the new avatar seems to satisfy them till every detail. After Innova Crysta, the new 2016 Fortuner is the second major launch by the Japanese car-maker in India.

The all new Toyota Fortuner is a complete transformation of its predecessor which definitely looks better. The new Fortuner is based on Toyota’s new TNGA platform which resulted in a lighter, stiffer SUV thereby improving ride and handling. The new Fortuner looks modern, stylish and urban. The headlamps come with projector headlamps and the rear has wraparound LED tail lights which makes the rear profile of the car a much impressive look.

Just like the exterior, the inside also gets a complete make over with touchscreen infotainment system with navigation, multi-function steering wheel, ambient lighting, paddle shifters, automatic climate control, electric tailgate and a whole lot more expensive features. The chic cabin is also fitted with premium leather upholstery.

Under the hood, the new Toyota Fortuner 2016 gives options to go with both petrol and diesel engine. Petrol engine has a capacity of 2.7-litre (four-cyinder) which churns out 164bhp at 5200rpm and 245Nm of torque at 4000rpm. The petrol engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic with paddle shift transmission.

The diesel engine fans getting a 2.8-litre (four-cylinder) producing 174.5bhp at 3400rpm and 420Nm of torque on the manual and 450Nm on the automatic versions. The diesel engine option is paired with either a 6-speed manual or the automatic transmission and comes with the 2WD and 4WD.

In terms of safety, the new Toyota Fortuner also comes with seven airbags, Vehicle Stability Control, Hill Assist Control, ABS with EBD, Downhill Assist Control and much more depending upon the variant.
